Clean lines and luxurious details come together in this exquisite Columbia venue, home to the UofSC Alumni Association. The Center features a 3-way dividable ballroom, pre-reception areas, conference rooms, the boardroom with presidential dining room, and the My Carolina Alumni Association office. The scope of our work encompasses all three floors of the 60,000-sf space.
Each part of the project is comprised of varying materials; however, quarter-sawn black walnut solids and veneers remain constant throughout. This includes the reception desks, wood-veneer wall panels, entranceways, elevator wood-veneer panels, wood-veneer display walls with backlit panels, meeting room lecturns, casings and trim work, and one of the most prestigious monumental staircases in the Midlands.
The scope of work also included working with Carvart Architectural glass, 3Form resins for countertops, other solid surface materials including Corian®, Wilsonart, Greenguard® certified Zodiaq, and laminate cladding for cabinets in food prep and utility spaces.
The monumental staircase is the center of attention at the front entrance. It is wrapped in the black walnut up to the second floor curved opening. Architectural glass, with floor-to-ceiling graphic inlays, surrounds the rear side of the staircase.
The six-part crown pediment cased opening headers showcase the conference rooms, ballrooms, and boardroom entranceways. Wood columns and wood wall panels, with kiosks and backlit displays, are located throughout the first and second floors.
In the Alumni office space, our featured work includes the radius wall and the black walnut reception desk with metal inlay of the South Carolina Gamecock and garnet solid surface countertop. Additional wood-veneer wall panels with backlit displays and mounts are found in the front office area.
Additionally, we manufactured and installed cabinets and vanities made of wood veneers, 3Form resins, laminate cladding, and solid surface tops in the restrooms, breakrooms, kitchens, offices, and meeting rooms.
A lot goes into what we do and how we do it. Meet the team that makes it happen.
